Do Not Be Too Mad At Travel Testing Companies
With the fantastic news that USA entry testing requirement is being scrapped starting June 12th, comes the wave of frustrated customers who've purchased tests for upcoming trips unable to get a quick and easy refund. There are reports on social media that some testing companies are allowing refunds, but with an admin fee attached. For better or worse- this is perfectly legal. Returning unwanted items you purchased isn't an automatic right in the UK.
Don't get me wrong, I don't feel sorry for these testing companies. Yes, they've popped up and been there when we needed them so we could travel, but they have profited handsomely over the last couple of years. They also knew their lucrative business wouldn't be around forever. However, don't forget that these testing companies employ quite a few people, and those jobs aren't looking particular secure right now.
Now, the news that testing would be scrapped was going to happen at some point, and there was always going to be a slither of customers who have purchased tests who are due to go soon caught in this transition period.
Try and get a partial refund from your testing company, but don't tarnish or hinder your excitement for your upcoming trip by getting angry because they won't automatically give you a full refund. We've all had a rough couple of years - some more than others - but you're about to go to the USA on holiday! Just adopt the mindset that you assumed you'd have to test, but no longer need to do it, even if you're a little out of pocket. You'll now be able to look forward to travelling without the anxiety of possibly testing positive on the day.
