UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps made some important announcements (via Gov.uk) today for England regarding international travel. Firstly, the traffic light system has been simplified to simple green and red lists. Second (starting at the end of October), PCR tests will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travellers returning to England. This includes the PCR requirement 3 days before returning to England and the day 2 PCR test upon return. However, a test is still required on day 2 after you return, but a much cheaper lateral flow test will be required, not an expensive PCR. Sorry to our Scottish readers, as these changes will not apply to you yet. Scotland has ruled out removing the requirement for PCR tests, due to "significant concerns at the impact on public health".
Even though - at the time of writing - US borders are still closed to us, this makes Disneyland Paris trips much less hassle and cheaper starting from October 4th. Having already booked my Disneyland Paris trip this winter, not having to pay for 2 PCR tests is a much appreciated which gives me more budget for plushies.
