Disney To Scrap "Amazon Prime" Like Service Idea And Metaverse Division

The Walt Disney Company is sadly letting 7,000 employees go by the summer. The WSJ reports that this will include the entire "metaverse" division. It'll also include scrapping the teams Bob Chapek set up for the "Amazon Prime" like service which was thought up to encourage guests to spend more last summer, this is no longer going ahead.

The layoffs will touch most parts of The Walt Disney Company, however frontline cast members - a role there's currently a shortage of - should largely be spared.
