Grandparents Mistakenly Buy $10,000 Of Disney+ Gift Cards Instead Of Disney Parks Ones
$10,000 worth of Disney+ gift cards were purchased by mistake by generous grandparents.
Very generous grandparents (via WBRC) mistakenly purchased $10,000 worth of Disney+ gift cards instead of Disney Parks gift cards. They were saving for a trip to take their 16 family members to Disneyland for the holidays, but instead purchased 70 years of Disney+.
This might seem like a bizarre thing to do, but if you didn't know, in the USA you can buy Disney gift cards and use them towards booking a Disneyland or Walt Disney World trip. These gift cards are often discounted (Target usually sell Disney gift cards with a 5% discount). As you can imagine over the cost of a trip to the parks that can be quite a bit of extra money saved. The grandparents thought they were doing this but were mistakenly buying Disney+ gift cards.
The family have said that Disney are turning those Disney+ gift cards into Disney Parks gift cards so they can enjoy their Christmas vacation.
It's unclear how often this happens. Apple had the same sort of problem and remedied this issue due to customers purchasing Apple Store gift card thinking it could be used for App Store purchases, and vice versa. Since the change, Apple gift cards can be used on the App Store and their stores.
