"Mr Potato Head" Is Going Gender Neutral And To Be Called "Potato Head" [Updated]

[Update] Hasbro has sent out a tweet saying:

Hold that Tot - your main spud, MR. POTATO HEAD isn't going anywhere! While it was announced today that the POTATO HEAD brand name & logo are dropping the 'MR.' I yam proud to confirm that MR. & MRS. POTATO HEAD aren't going anywhere and will remain MR. & MRS. POTATO HEAD

It's not completely clear if this means there will be gender neutral spuds alongside Mr & Mrs spuds. I will update if and when they clarify. Original story is below.

Sky News is reporting that the Toy Story Mania pre-show star, Mr Potato Head, is going gender neutral. The "Mr. Potato Head" character from Toy Story will be known only as "Potato Head" after makers Hasbro decided a modern makeover was needed. Even though he makes very clear in this movies with quotes like:

"That's Mr Potato Head to you, you back-stabbing murderer"

For some reason they decide now to make the character gender neutral. The name change will take place this year, with Potato Heads appearing on shelves and websites soon.
