Park Reservation System With Us Until At Least September 26th 2021
News 19-Jun-2020
Disney has announced that starting June 22nd 2020 you can make your park reservations up until September 26th 2021.
This is significant for a couple of reasons. First, it looks like Disney is planning for a worse case scenario of needing this reservation system because parks might have to be at a lower (or controlled) capacity for quite some time, and second, it indicates a day where Disney plans to fully go back to normal. The end of September date does coincide with the 50th anniversary, so no doubt this choice of date isn't a coincidence.
The downside to this change is you have to start making plans and book your 2020/2021 park reservations now, and during this time, there is no park hopping. Even though a lot of a Walt Disney Holiday is now planned in advance, the parts that were left where you could be spontaneous appears to be fading away, at least for now.
As I said, Disney are planning for worse case scenario, and there is no reason by next April (for example) that if the virus is under control or we have a vaccine, things can go back to normal. They could scrap the reservation system and park hopping and some park spontaneity can resume. Of course, that makes it hard to plan for. If you're looking to still go in 2020 or in 2021, this park reservation system is something you'll have to grow accustomed to for now.
This also means there could be no Fastpass+ until then, either.
