Pound Sterling Hits 1.42 Against The US Dollar

Thankfully for us Disney World visitors, the pound has slowly started to strengthen against the US dollar. We reported in May 2017 that the dollar rate was at £1 = $1.30, and today it has entering the realm of £1 = $1.42. Still a way off the long term average of around $1.50, but it's good news for those visiting this year -- as we had some awful rates last year.
Is now the time to buy your spending money?
Again, I'm not one to speculate on financial markets, and I have no idea what direction the value of the pound will go in. I gave some good advice in the previous article that I will repeat here:
"A good rule of thumb is take advantage of any spikes in currency value, and get at least some spending money. Don't lose sleep over the rates, buy at a rate you're happy with, don't try to bet the markets, and budget for the dollars you have bought.".
If you're travelling before the summer, it won't hurt to get some now if you plan on taking cash.
The Post Office tend to have the best rates (commission free) when you order online and either have it delivered or pick up from a store.
