President Biden To Crack Down On The "Resort Fees" That Plague Florida Hotels
News - Travel 08-Feb-2023
If you only stay in a Walt Disney World Resort when visiting Florida, it's likely you've never encountered "Resort fees". Disney do not charge resort fees to guests who stay in their hotels. If you've stayed off-site, then you know all about resort fees, as most hotels charge them. Resort fees do nothing put make the customer feel ripped off seeing another hefty charge on their hotel bill.
President Biden said in his keynote speech this week he intends to crack down on these resort fees (and junk fees of all kinds).
"I know how unfair it feels when a company overcharges you and gets away with it. Not Anymore."
"We've written a bill to stop all that. It's called the 'Junk Fee Prevention Act.'"
"We'll ban surprise "resort fees" that hotels tack on to your bill. These fees can cost you up to $90 a night at hotels that aren't even resorts."
However, don't expect hotels (especially in Florida) to suddenly become cheaper. The revenue lost from charging guests resort fees will just be applied to the actual room rate, but it will mean that the upfront cost is the actual cost of staying at that resort, as it should be.
