Shanghai Disneyland closed in late January due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now, 4 months later, Disney announced on their Q2 earnings call that they are getting ready to open the park up again. The park will open on May 11th with social distancing measures put in place.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that when it's time to open other Disney parks, they will follow this same protocol.
These protocols include limited capacity, which Disney will be controlling by requiring guests to make reservations to enter the park before arriving, temperature screening, the use of masks, other social distancing measures put in place for making sure guests are at least 2 meters apart in queues, and more to be announced in the coming week. Parts of the park experience that put many guests in confined areas, like parades and fireworks, will not be taking place for the time being. Character meet-and-greets will also be suspended.
