|
Misc 25-Jan-2023 |

Disney has announced today that the beloved Splash Mountain attraction will be closing on January 23rd, 2023. A British Mickey From The UK reader was at Walt Disney World and hoping for one last ride on Splash Mountain on the 23rd, but sadly it closed the day before. Sad and confused, she asked the community what was going on.
When Americans say something is closing on a particular date, what they actually mean is that it closes the day before. The final day of Splash Mountain's operation was January 22nd, even though they announced the closing date as 23rd January. We Brits would assume that the attraction would close at end of the day on the 23rd January. However, when Americans announce a closing date, the final day of operation is always the day before, and the day they announce is the day it will be fully closed from.
Add it to the long list of UK Vs USA differences.
