This will depend on your desire and ability to walk. Depending on how busy the hotel is, your room could be at the back end corner of the resort. If you want to make sure you're close to the main hall, you can pay a bit extra and stay in what Disney called a 'preferred room'. We usually do it if it's not too much extra, because at the end of the night all you want to do is get into bed as quickly as possible.
You can request to be put as close a possible to the main hall, but there are no guarantees.
