Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' Review At Disney Springs
Review - WDW 20-Jul-2023
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin', located at Disney Springs, is American comfort food at its best! Homecomin' is truly one of the best places to eat at Walt Disney World and is easily in our top 3 of all the restaurants on property. We experienced the restaurant itself, the outside bar, and the inside bar. Here's our Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' review.
✅ Food is phenomenal
👍 Service is great
👍 Restaurant is nice and cosy
We actually came to eat here 3 times during our recent trip and experienced it in 3 different ways. We didn't plan to, but we wanted to try a bunch of items on the menu so thought were could spread them out over our time at Walt Disney World. On the first night we arrived in Florida, we popped down to Disney Springs for a bite to eat before heading back for an early night. We decided to go to Homecomin' as those Thigh High Chicken Biscuits had been on my mind. For our first visit, we sat at the new outside bar area as it wasn't too hot out. The bar areas are first come first serve and you don't need a reservation. What's even better, is you can order from the full restaurant menu at the bar.
Homecomin' sell Moonshine sippy cups that have cheaper refills but we weren't sure what Moonshine we liked, so we ordered the flight and some of those Thigh High Chicken Biscuits to share. The flight isn't on the bar menu but it's $32.
The flight gives you a generous portion of each as shown on the menu above. They were all good and I think for first place it's a draw between Blue Hooch and Rum Punch. I recommend getting this flight to try all the flavours!
This was one of the surreal moments where we've been planning and talking about these for months, and here they are in front of us. Let's just say they didn't disappoint. They are a little difficult to eat because biscuits don't stay together very well, but these thigh highs were so delicious. This is apparently a starter for one person? Behave. We just shared this one portion for a light dinner.
A week or so later it was time to have the full restaurant experience and get our paws on that fried chicken! We were taken to our table which had comfy seats and a great view.
We got a Moonshine refill in our sippy cup and also ordered a beer. Our server brought over some water too of course.
I've never had Deviled Eggs before in my life, so we decided to share a portion to start. Let's just say, I'll be having Deviled Eggs again.
Onto the main course, we just ordered two dishes and shared it. We ordered Art's Famous Fried Chicken and Chopped Pork Barbecue. With the chicken, you can request white or dark meat, or even a bit of both. You can also ask for no drums if drums aren't your jam. You're given a bit of both with a drum as default.
Just look at this Mac & Cheese.
We put the entire feast in the middle of the table and just shared the whole lot.
I don't even know where to start. The chicken is delicious and well-cooked. Fried chicken can sometimes be a bit too greasy but this never crossed that threshold. The mash was perfect and made it even better with whatever they call gravy that you can ask to go on top of it. The Mac & Cheese was perfect and the cheesiest and stringy Mac & Cheese I think I've ever had.
It was time for dessert and as you can probably imagine, there was no room for any. I have had the hummingbird cake before and we decided we weren't going to miss out and got one to go.
This meal cost $128 before tip. Well, $120 if you don't count the $8 charge for the sippy cup. Worth. Every. Penny. This meal was incredible. It's comfort food like I've never had and everything was delicious. If I were to nitpick I would say the pulled pork was only "very good".
On our second to last day, we didn't have anywhere booked to eat and we were in Springs I asked the other half "Is there anywhere you'd like to go again that you really liked for some dinner?" Not a second passed when "Homecomin'" left her lips. We were sitting at Raglan Road at the time so we just hopped back over. Although there were walk-ups available, we just went to the inside bar. We shared some Devilled Eggs and a plate of fried chicken again.
See you next trip, Homecomin'! I'll be sure to bring a second stomach.
