We ate at the Homecomin restaurant at Disney Springs. Read about what we thought about our experience there.
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' (previously Homecoming) is a relatively new Disney Springs restaurant located between Planet Hollywood and Raglan Road.
The cuisine of Homecomin' pays homage to Florida’s bygone era, with the vast majority of ingredients sourced from local farms, ranches or fisheries. It is American comfort food at its best! There are plenty of places on property where you can get American comfort food, but if you want quality and delicious comfort food, Homecomin' is for you.
Let me preface by saying, this is a place to go if you're really hungry, and can eat a lot of food. If you're not a big eater, you may find Homecomin' a touch overwhelming.
We've eaten here once before, and I believe I had the fried chicken. It was nice, but I'm not a huge fan of deep fried things, but was told the fried chicken was a must. This year, we both had the Chopped Pork Barbecue Plate. We got a side of mash to share, too.
There was nothing bad on that plate. The salad was fresh, the biscuit (savoury scone) was nice, the pulled pork was delicious, and the mac 'n' cheese was probably the best mac 'n' cheese I've had in my life.
As we were on the dining plan, we of course could have dessert. Even though we were very full after that meal (as you can clearly tell), we ordered the Hummingbird Cake and the Auntie's Chocolate Cake. I'm not a huge cake eater, but the Hummingbird cake was just fantastic.
Of course I could only have a few bites, so we boxed it up to take it back to the hotel. The chocolate cake wasn't as good as the Hummingbird, but as chocolate cake's go, it's still pretty good.
We had the manager come up to our table and had a little conversation with us. I noticed he was making his way around all the tables, but I'm not sure whether he does this all day, but it was a nice touch. It's always funny how quickly Americans can pick up we are British.
The tables were big enough, the chairs were comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxing and warm. If I had one negative I'd say the tables are a tad close together, although they're laid out in a way where you're not really opposite another table, if that makes sense.
I would recommend checking out Homecomin’. It's certainly worth the money and your table service credit.
I am thoroughly looking forward to going back to Homecomin' on our next trip.
