Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Review

Review - WDW
09-Aug-2023

Pioneer Hall located within The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort hosts the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! This dining experience includes 2 hours of rousing dancing, singing and zany comedy, served with all-you-care-to-enjoy fried chicken, smoked BBQ pork ribs, beans, mac & cheese, fresh-baked cornbread, and more! Here is our review of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

🕺 Fantastic performers and a great show
👍 The food is good and fresh
👍 Service is awesome
🪑 Doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house

It can be a bit of a journey to get to this area of Walt Disney World. I found the best free route is to get the bus to Magic Kingdom, and the boat to The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. The boat dock is right outside the restaurant, but the main bus stop will be at the main Fort Wilderness building. If you bus it, you'll have to get another internal bus service over to that side of the resort. What we did is grabbed a Minnie Van (standard Uber or Lyft is fine as well) to get there, and then got the boat to Magic Kingdom to watch Happily Ever After afterwards, then got the resort buses back to our hotel.

First, let's talk about pricing. There are three showings per day. At 4 pm, 6:15 pm, and 8:30 pm. Pre-payment is required, and when the dining plan returns in 2024 it will cost 2 Table-service credits. What's great about the price for this experience, is that all gratuities and taxes are included! Below is the seating plan.

We chose category 3 because we weren't sure what we were in for and didn't want to get chosen for the audience participation parts. Categories 2 and 3 are upstairs on the balcony. But fear not! There is only one row of tables across the balcony so you're not going to be sat behind someone when you're at the top. What's even better, is the chairs swivel so you can turn to face your table to eat, or turn to face the show.

Category 1 seating (which is on the main floor) costs $74 for adults and $44 for kids. Category 2 seating (which is upstairs on the balcony and facing the stage head-on) costs $69 for adults and $40 for kids. Category 3 seating (which is upstairs on the balcony and facing sideways towards the stage) costs $66 for adults and $39 for kids.

In the image above, the red dot indicates where we sat for our category 3 seats, and here was our view.

Our server came over and introduced himself and handed us a menu of what we'll be able to enjoy during the show.

You might have noticed that included in the price of this meal is unlimited beer, wine, and sangria. That is a rarity at Walt Disney World! What's even better, our server was bringing us our beer and sangria two at a time. He told us we looked parched after a long day in the parks, he wasn't wrong.

The meal is broken up into show elements and eating elements. So when you're being served food, it will be in-between when the show elements are going on. To start, we were brought over salad, coleslaw and cornbread. The cornbread was so, so good.

The main course consisted of fried chicken, ribs, mac & cheese, and mash. All of it was good and tasty. This isn't Homecomin', but the food was fresh and satisfying overall, and you can have as much as you'd like!

During the show the performers move around and to sections all over the dining hall!

For desert, you get to enjoy a strawberry shortcake. This is similar to the desert at Garden Grill. It was nice, but I had no room for it other than one bite to taste it. What better way is there to end a dinner show with everyone waving their towels around?

We had a great time at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. As I said at the start, there is some audience participation, and even though you avoid it more sitting on the balconies at the top, you're not completely out of the woods! At the start, we sat watching the stage show and noticed one of the actors standing next to us on the balcony and were thinking "Uh oh". A few of them were scattered around and what they were doing is going to those tables and asking where they were from. This was funny because most of the tables said Florida or other nearby states, and of course, there are cheers around the place to indicate you're from those places as well. The actor standing next to us turned to us and asked and we said "The UK!" and nobody cheered. It was so funny! "Guess we're the only Brits here then!"

The food was nothing amazing, but it was all tasty and freshly cooked. The show was very entertaining and the two hours truly flew by. I would say for $66-$74 it is great value for money. Excellent show, good food, all the beer you can drink, what's not to love? We wouldn't rush back to do this again, but absolutely somewhere we'd like to revisit every few trips or so. If you haven't experienced it and are undecided, I would recommend you do it.

Food 4/5

Service 4.5/5

Experience 5/5

Overall 4.5/5
