Space 220 Lounge At EPCOT Review

Space 220 Lounge At EPCOT Review

We were not interested in the $79 pre-fixe menu for Space 220. None of the starters appeal to us at all, and the desserts weren't particularly inspiring either. Which would leave us pretty much paying $79 for probably an 8oz Filet Mignon. And while I enjoyed the restaurant itself more than I thought, on paper beforehand I'd rather go to Steakhouse 71 again if I wanted a steak. So instead, on our final day, we booked the Space 220 lounge for some nibbles and a cocktail just to see and experience the restaurant as I really wanted to check this place out. In summary:

✅ The ambience and atmosphere of Space 220 is incredible
✅ The lounge menu items we had were both delicious
✅ The service was excellent
✅ The comfiest chairs in any restaurant on property
❓ Somewhat strange three check-in points along your journey to be seated
👎 Disorganised entrance and boarding process

There was a bit of kerfuffle at the entrance. There appeared to be two lines, one for reservations and one for walk-ups, but it wasn't clear. There was a Scottish party in front of us we talked to and they were equally confused. Nobody appeared to know what was going on. There was no signage or guidance from any cast members. Eventually, everyone collectively decided that right was walk-ups and left was reservations. When the cast members appeared at the entrance, it appears we were in the right places. We got checked in and then told to go inside. We then checked in again and were given a boarding pass.

You then enter a space elevator to be transported up to Space 220. You enter the room with a few other guests also waiting to travel up to the restaurant as well.

You're then transported up to space! There is a window below and above you that you can watch as your space elevator travels upwards. If you look down you see EPCOT getting further and further away and if you look up you get closer and closer to the station. The room shakes a bit as you travel as well. Overall, a nice little touch and something different.

We then checked in again giving the cast member our boarding pass, it's a good thing I didn't drop that over the railing on the way up. You're then taken to your seat and you're greeted with a massive view of space in front of you.

I was completely blown away how amazing this restaurant looked. The screens (or windows to space) are so much more immersive and believable than the screens at the Skyline Bar at Disney's Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel at Disneyland Paris and Hyperspace Lounge onboard the Disney Wish. This should be the standard on which these screen-based restaurant experiences should be.

The restaurant is absolutely stunning. Not just the windows to space, but the floor design, the tables, and especially the chairs. They were probably the most comfortable restaurant seats I've ever sat in.

Our server was Nina and she was fantastic, so a big shout out to her. We told her we were in a bit of a rush to just try some food and have a couple of drinks. We ordered the Planetary Punch and the Atmospritz. While they are on the pricey side of about $17 each there's a little presentation with them with the pour and both were strong and delicious.

For some nibbles, we ordered the Chicken on Waffle (I still don't understand that combination) and Short Rib Sliders. The chicken on the waffle was very nice and the sliders were really tasty as well.

This was such a throw-away place in our plans. We had a busy last couple of days due to Hurricane Ian killing 2 of our parks days so we had lots to do to make up for the lost time so we thought we'd still have time to pop in here to check it out, as were going to cancel it. Space 220 was realistically only a new place to check off my list and move on. Sort of like the Skyline Bar at Disneyland Paris. It's a nice place to go for a drink, but it's nothing I rush over to, and I assumed this would be the same sort of thing.

Oh boy was I wrong. I absolutely loved it there. The feeling and ambience of this place. Looking out into space watching all sorts of weird things going on. With the comfortable seating and the beautiful decor, there was nothing to fault here. I could happily have spent all afternoon sipping cocktails and nibbling on short rib sliders, and I'm kicking myself we didn't have more time here (okay it was partially Hurricane Ian's fault too).

In summary, if the dinner menu is for you, 100% go for it. Otherwise, check out the lounge menu which is likely more suitable for most people.

I really would like to do the three-course pre-fixe, but they need to offer a more variety of starters and improved dessert options for us. Until then, I am really looking forward to going back to the lounge on the next trip and will be spending a good amount of time there soaking in that atmosphere.
