Rumour: Disney Might Be Planning To Extend Disney Skyliner To Disney Springs

This article refers to a rumour and not something Disney has officially announced.
While at Walt Disney World we were told on a couple of occasions during conversations that Disney are planning to extend the Disney Skyliner to Disney Springs. The Disney Skyliner - Disney's gondola system - connects Pop Century and Art of Animation to Caribbean Beach, with two routes going to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT (with a stop at Riviera). The rumoured new route will likely connect the Riviera stop across to Disney Springs, as outlined in the image below. As you can see, it's not unfeasible to extend to the Disney Skyliner to Disney Springs based on the location.
The red lines indicate the current route, and the rumoured route is in yellow
The Disney Skyliner has been a success for Disney. It's a relatively low cost transportation method (compared to buses and the monorail) that moves a lot of people quickly. It could be no brainer to extend the Disney Skyliner further- even though weather can get in the way of the service. However, there is the free parking situation at Disney Springs to consider, which could be why it wasn't done originally. We'll see in time whether Disney plans to go ahead with extending the Disney Skyliner.
