Stop Calling The Planned Theme Park "The UK Disneyland"
A new UK theme park is being planned, but for the love of all things please stop calling it the UK Disneyland.
For those of you who don't know, a new 535 acre theme park is planned to be built near London, which is due to begin opening in 2024.
News sites are (annoyingly) publishing sentences like "New pictures show stunning plans for the UK version of Disneyland which is set to open in the South East."
This theme park has nothing to do with Disney. I won't be surprised if Disney start filing lawsuits, especially after looking at the concept art (above).
While the concept art looks impressive - it's still concept art. It looks like some very talented people got to go wild with dreams and plans of a theme park, but it's unclear how much of that can realistically end up in the real world.
Disney didn't build it's Europe theme park in the UK because of it's location. They built the park to be as close as possible to all the biggest population bases, as well as good transport hubs. That happened to be near Paris.
I welcome a new theme park closer to home, especially as Alton Towers and Thorpe park don't really do it for me (but now Lego owns them, things might change), I doubt it's going to be anything on par with Disney World, or perhaps even Disneyland Paris (at least not for me). However, I have an open mind so we'll see.
Just stop calling this the 'UK DisneyLand'. It's wrong, and just no.
