Ticket, Holiday, And Dining Plan Changes For 2021 Explained

Disney, without any sort of announcement, made some major changes to their 2021 offerings yesterday that hit us all at once. A lot happened, so I have done my best to make sense of the changes that were made and list them all here for you.

21 Day Ultimate Ticket Removed

Earlier in the week, UK Disney World ticket vendors were telling customers that Disney were planning to change the 21 day ticket, and later that day, stopped selling them. That policy has now been made official as Disney has stopped all sales of the 21 day ultimate ticket through the whole of 2021 through their official ticket website.

2021 7 & 14 Day Ultimate Ticket Restrictions

Up until now, the 7, 14, and 21 day (RIP) ticket gave you unlimited access to all parks at any time during the year they're valid. This changes in 2021. The 7 and 14 ultimate ticket is now only gives you park access until September 26th, 2021.

No Holiday Packages Past 26th September 2021

Just like with the ticket changes above, Disney are no longer letting us Brits book a package holiday to Walt Disney World at all with a check-out date past September 26th, 2021.

Disney Dining Plans For 2021 Cancelled

Disney cancelled all their dining plans on packages for 2020, and they've just done it again for 2021. If you had already rebooked your 2020 trip to 2021 and added a dining plan, that dining plan will soon be removed from your package. The Disney dining plan is no longer for sale at all for any stays. For those holding out for a free dining offer for 2021, it looks like there won't be a dining plan to give for free.

Why?

The reasons for all this are unclear. An obvious guess is they're being cautious about 2021 and waiting to see what happens with the virus over the next year or so. It's better to prepare for the worst and hope for the best, but that makes planning any sort of Disney trip a complete nightmare right now. Coupled with the 50th anniversary celebrations starting on October 2021, they either want to hold off on taking bookings for that yet and have perhaps a different ticket system in place, or they just want to take things one step at a time in this "new normal". But seeing as they have been taking bookings for the entire of 2021 for a little while now, it seems like a bit of snap decision to stop new bookings entirely.

What this means for people who have already made ticket or package bookings has yet to be seen. Disney will either honour them, or cancel them with a full refund like they have with 2020 bookings. You'll have to contact Disney directly to find out with your own booking references.
