EXCLUSIVE: Disney Launches New "Genie X" Service To Go Alongside Genie+
Mickey From The UK was invited to a Walt Disney Company media zoom call meeting because Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Parks Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D'Amaro wanted to share their upcoming Disney Parks dining offerings.
"We're so excited you're here so we can share our upcoming plans with you," Josh D'Amaro told the group. "We know how much guests love booking their table-service restaurants at Walt Disney World 60 days in advance, and now with guests also having to book their park reservations as well, we asked ourselves, why stop there?"
Josh D'Amaro continued to lay out plans saying that they're going to extend the booking requirements to quick-service restaurants as well. So starting this summer, guests will be required - at 60 days out - to book their quick-service restaurants as well as their table-service restaurants.
"This will stop walk-ups to our quick service restaurants that result in the long queues guests experience." Josh D'Amaro said. "We will not be accepting walk-ups to our quick-service restaurants, but may setup a waiting list option as we do for table-service restaurants sometime in 2024. Our team is working very hard on that waiting list feature."
Bob Iger excitedly added "This isn't just for quick-service restaurants, it will extend to the snack kiosks as well. Guests must book a slot to get their Mickey pretzel and dole whips 60 days in advance!"
Josh D'Amaro continued "Yes, that's right. This will make our popular EPCOT festivals even better as you'll have to choose a timeslot 60 days in advance for each of the booths you want to visit as you go around World Showcase. Just magical!"
"This will improve the guest experience," Bob Iger said.
Finally, we asked both Bob Iger and Josh D'Amaro when the Disney Dining Plan will be returning. Disney announced in 2021 that the dining plan will be returning, but did not indicate when. We took this opportunity to press the issue and asked for a date estimate of when they intend to bring back the Disney Dining Plan.
"The Disney Dining plan?" Bob Iger asked in reply as he looked towards Josh D'Amaro. "Never heard of it," Bob Iger said.
