Everything You Need To Book For Disney World

This page gives you the rundown of everything you need to book to complete your Disney World holiday.

Flights

There are only a few English airlines that fly direct to Orlando. Those include Thomson, Thomas Cook & Virgin. Thomas Cook is usually the cheapest. Thomson is a step up, but the Dreamliner's are lovely planes. And then finally is Virgin. Take a look at who flies from your nearest Airport, and compare the prices. Sometimes it may be better off going to an airport further away to secure a cheaper flight.

There are other airlines that fly with multiple stops. I have never personally taken an Orlando flight where I need to change planes in the middle, and I wouldn't ever want to if I could help it. You can also look at American airlines that fly to and from Orlando. Although the saving on doing it that way will depend on the pound to dollar exchange rate.

There are a handful of flight upgrade options available to you. Whether you want to upgrade to premium, or pay to upgrade legroom space, or the option to choose your seat. Make sure you get this sorted at the time of booking.

Hotel

The next step is choosing your hotel. You can book your hotel through a travel agent, like Thomson or Thomas cook, or you can book with Disney directly. Prices vary with all agents depending on what deals they have at the time.

Tickets + Dining

There are several places you can buy your tickets. You can buy them through travel agents or online. Keep in mind if you are looking to buy the Disney dining plan, you have to purchase it with whoever you're booking your hotel through, as Disney dining plans can only be bought at the same time as booking a Disney hotel.

Do make sure you purchase the UK exclusive 7, 14 or 21 day ultimate tickets. For more information on the available Disney world tickets, check out our dedicated Disney World Tickets page.

Car Or Transfers

Car hire is usually included with most package holiday's. If you do not require a car, you can opt to have transfers instead. If your airline flies into Orlando International, you can catch the Disney's Magical Express for free. If your airline lands in Sanford, you'll have to get a taxi or pay for a coach. This is usually around £30 per person.

Insurance

Travel insurance is a must. Unfortunately, insurance costs for going to the USA can be pricey. So make sure you shop around. Remember, America does not have a NHS. All medical attention will need to be paid for, and it's not cheap.

Extras

There are extras you can add to your booking, and other things you may need to think about. For example if you wanted to purchase the Memory Maker, you do so through Disney after making your hotel booking. If you require airport parking, get that sorted as soon as you can. And depending on how far your travel is to the airport, you may wish to stay at a hotel the night before, and most Orlando flights depart first thing in the morning.

Package Vs Booking Separate

There is an ongoing debate whether booking your holiday together in a package is better than booking it separate. Sometimes booking it separate can work out cheaper, but you will not have ATOL protection, and if you have problems with a certain aspect of your holiday, you'll have multiple people you'll have to contact, rather than one.
