Flight Seats And Upgrades
|
Guide 26-Feb-2017 |
A flight to Florida is a lengthy journey. It can take anywhere from 7 hours to 10 hours depending on the wind and flight path. But, before you're put onto a tin can and crammed together like sardines, you want to sort out your flight upgrades and seat options.
The airline industry is full of up-sells. Some are worth it, some are not. The only ones I personally recommend is choosing your own seat, and extra luggage if you plan to buy a lot. The flight really can feel like a long time, and it's much more comfortable paying a little extra to sit next to your friends or family.
Choose Your Seat
If you have picked the option to choose your seat, which can cost anything from £30 per person, you should confirm the date when you can do this. These days airlines are opening up the ability to choose your seat right after booking, so you want to check when you can book yours and do so ASAP.
Luggage Upgrades
Airlines all have different amounts of luggage allowances. The majority give you 20kg in economy. If you think you're going to need extra, buy it before you go. You don't want to go over your weight limit when you're out there. While in America, your extra luggage fees will be charged in US dollars, and when the pound is weak, it'll end up costing you even more.
Other Upgrades
There will be a host of other optional upgrades available to you. For example, more legroom seats, Champagne on take off, and many more. Check with your airline to see if any interest you.
Top Tip - All Disney hotels have a luggage section where you can weigh your bags before heading off to the airport. You should take advantage of this, as I've seen a lot of people in the queues at airports turning their bags inside out getting rid of stuff they don't want to get within the limit.
