La Table de Lumiere Review - Disneyland Hotel

We dined at La Table de Lumiere at Disneyland Hotel for dinner, and here's our honest review.

La Table de Lumiere - or La Table de Lumière as it's officially known - is the one of two true fine dining restaurants at Disneyland Paris located within Disneyland Hotel (the other being La Forêt Secrète). La Table de Lumiere offers a prix fixe three-course menu (although technically five courses) that costs €120 for adults and €60 for kids.
  • ✓   Without question the best food at Disneyland Paris (although there's not much competition)
  • ✓   The menu is fantastic with a wide range of different options to suit most tastes
  • ✓   The restaurant itself is themed very well and incredibly elegant
  • ✓   One of the best and unique dining experiences I've ever had at any Disney restaurant
  • ✓   I don't think €120 is particularly overpriced for this experience, especially if you love meeting the princesses

La Table de Lumiere Restaurant

We visited La Table de Lumière on our second night at Disneyland Hotel and booked a table for 630 pm. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant throughout. There are two main dining rooms. One is located at the back (where the rotating Beauty & the Beast centrepiece is located) and a quieter room at the front separated by an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs do their work.

La Table de Lumiere

The back room is a beautiful circular room with the infamous Beauty & the Beast centrepiece. We walked in there to have a look, but we were seated at the quieter area near the restaurant entrance.

We had a window seat so we had a nice view of Disneyland Park. Each table has a Beauty & the Beast Rose in the centre and elegant tableware.

La Table de Lumiere Service

La Table de Lumiere

Our server Laura (and her server team) was fantastic. She was very attentive, friendly, and enthusiastic. On a completely unrelated note she had a particular accent mix of English and American which was very interesting - perhaps she learned some of her English from American sitcoms (which I later found out is quite common for Europeans).

After introducing herself she handed us the menus to look over and gave us a few minutes to decide what we wanted to drink.

La Table de Lumiere Champagne

Because this Disneyland Hotel trip was also a Valentine's Day surprise for my fiancée, I thought I'd treat us to the new special Disneyland Hotel-exclusive champagne - it's €150 for the bottle. Before we knew about the exclusive champagne we were tempted to do the champagne pairing, but that's never something that appeals to us as we don't like all champagnes. Also, the champagne pairing is €60 each and you only get 3 x 10cl glasses, so for us, the value isn't there, we may as well get a bottle of something we like (or in this case, something exclusive and unique to try).

La Table de Lumiere Champagne

The champagne itself was nice, inoffensive and not too fizzy. It wasn't quite as nice as our go-to champagne, Veuve Clicquot. However, it's a unique blend in a gorgeous bottle. To be honest, when we go back, we'll probably have another one! They let you keep the bottle and cork if you want it, which we absolutely did. The bottle sits on my office shelf!

La Table de Lumiere Food

La Table de Lumiere

Our server brought us a little palette cleanser/amuse-bouche before our first course. It was a mix of butternut squash and apple. It was quite a bizarre mix at first but it was quite tasty once you let it settle in.

At this point, our server asked if we love stories. Who doesn't love a good story? Each course was presented as a chapter of our story for the evening at La Table de Lumière. A story that certain princes and princesses will also be part of as they come around to our table.

To start, we had the Freshly cooked langoustines, shellfish coulis, cauliflower puree and lemon caviar and Red Label ceufs de Loue fried egg, potatoes, baby spinach and Comte AOP cream.

La Table de Lumiere langoustines

The Freshly cooked langoustines, shellfish coulis, cauliflower puree and lemon caviar was fresh and tasty. You have to eat all the components in one bite to get the full flavours, and the cauliflower melts in your mouth as well.

La Table de Lumiere Egg

The Red Label ceufs de Loue fried egg, potatoes, baby spinach and Comte AOP cream was delicious and my favourite course of this meal. The egg was perfectly cooked inside the breadcrumbs and the potato base was delicious as well.

For our main course we had Farm chicken cooked two ways and confit potato, herby roast chicken breast and poached chicken leg with supreme sauce and Roast Montbeliarde beef, potato ribbons, sweet onion cream and Merlot jus

La Table de Lumiere chicken

The Farm chicken cooked two ways and confit potato, herby roast chicken breast and poached chicken leg with supreme sauce was very good. The sauce was lovely, the potatoes fell apart, and the chicken was fresh and juicy.

La Table de Lumiere Beef

The Roast Montbeliarde beef, potato ribbons, sweet onion cream and Merlot jus was very good as well. I like my potatoes super soft and these were right on the edge of softness. I loved the way the potatoes were laid out. The beef was tender and the merlot jus was lovely. At first, I thought it seemed like quite a small portion, but by the end of it, I was satisfied.

For dessert we had the Enchanted Ball Cake: White chocolate ganache, vanilla pear insert and Dacquoise biscuit and the Royal Indulgence: Creamy chocolate with basil, thin sheets of dark chocolate and caramelised almonds.

La Table de Lumiere Enchanted Ball Cake

The Enchanted Ball Cake: White chocolate ganache, vanilla pear insert and Dacquoise biscuit was delicious. The ganache was top notch but the texture change when you hit the pear insert does catch you off guard, but the dessert overall works really well.

La Table de Lumiere Royal Indulgence

The Royal Indulgence: Creamy chocolate with basil, thin sheets of dark chocolate and caramelised almonds was one of the most bizarre desserts I've ever had. You are reading it correctly when it says it's chocolate and basil put together. Our server told us to trust it, so we did. This dessert takes you on a journey. On your first bite you taste the chocolate - yummy - and then the basil hits - it perks you up and a confused expression hits your face - then after another bite it all comes together and tastes delicious. Not sure how it works, but it does.

La Table de Lumiere

We thought we were done but our server brought us over our story finale! A dessert after our desserts. This consisted of little bite-sized meringues with raspberry and cream and praline chocolate on sponge. Both were very nice! We finished with a coffee (not included) as we discussed our experience.

La Table de Lumiere Prince & Princesses

La Table de Lumiere

During your meal princes and princesses will come and visit you for the opportunity for a chat and photos. We met Belle and Adam, Aurora and Phillip, and Cinderella and Prince Charming. They were all great and although I don't particularly care for face-character interactions (I'd take playing charades with Chip 'N' Dale any day of the week instead) it wasn't too awkward and they did well. If you're uncomfortable around face characters they're good at reading the room for how much interaction you want. A funny tidbit is that I'm pretty sure most of the speaking characters need to speak both English and French, but we had two tables of people around us who were all English and Prince Adam never said a word, he just smiled and nodded the whole time while Belle was doing the talking - it tickled us a little.

La Table de Lumiere Summary

La Table de Lumiere was an incredible Disney dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful and elegant and there's nothing else quite like it. While there was an initial sticker shock at the price of this dinner, I honestly don't think the price of €120 is outrageous for this experience. Incorporating your own royal story into the meal alongside the prince and princesses is perfectly fitting for the Disneyland Hotel's overall theme and it carries through beautifully here.

While La Table de Lumiere was only for guests who were staying at Disneyland Hotel, thankfully now that the initial rush has died down, all guests can now enjoy the restaurant and book it online.

Mickey From The UK Review Policy

Our reviews are based on our own visits, our own experience and our own money unless we say otherwise. We're honest with both the good and the not-so-good. When that happens, the aim isn't to put you off Disney - it's to point you towards a better option, whether that's a different restaurant, hotel or experience. We want your time and money going towards the parts of the trip that will make it even better - which is good for you, and good for Disney too.
