What To Use Now Disneys Magical Express Is Gone
|
Guide 23-Jan-2022 |
Disney scrapped the complimentary Disney's Magical Express service which transports guests from Orlando International Airport to their Walt Disney World resort hotel, leaving guests to make their own way to Walt Disney World. We've listed a few alternatives that you can use.
Rent a car
Many guests who rent a car anyway will continue to do so, but it's always an option if it suits your needs. Keep in mind parking at the Walt Disney World resort hotels now costs over $15 per night, coupled with car hire prices being at an all time high at the moment.
Book a private transfer
Our favourite way to get to our resort hotel is by a private transfer. You make the booking in advance, and the driver meets you at arrivals with your name on a board. This usually doesn't work out much more expensive than paying for coach transfers and you get fast personalised service and reduced travel time.

Uber/Lyft/Taxi when you arrive
For those who live life on the edge, you can just hop into an Uber/Lyft/Mears Taxi at the airport when you arrive. The costs of these can vary, especially at peak times, but it's another option alongside booking a private transfer in advance.
Mears Connect
Mears Connect is a coach service operated by Mears that takes you from Orlando International Airport to your Walt Disney World resort hotel. Some people didn't know that Disney's Magical Express was actually operated by Mears. Since the Magical Express' retirement, Mears are providing the same service (without the Disney theme). It costs around $16 per person each way. Make sure you weigh up the cost for your family as it might be more beneficial and comfortable to book a private transfer.
Synshine Flyer
Sunshine Flyer is a newer coach service that works almost the same as Mears Connect, but is operated by a different company. They offer coaches that are themed around old-fashioned passenger cars and train locomotives. They are a tad more expensive than Mears Connect, but they're a bit more fun. Remember to compare to getting a private transfer.
