Airlines must confirm that the proof of vaccination comes from an "official source" and was received at least two weeks prior. Any vaccines approved by US health regulators will be accepted. Unvaccinated travellers, including Americans, will have to show a negative Covid test taken within one day of departure.Children under the age of 18 will be exempt from the vaccination requirement but must still provide a negative test taken within three days of travel.
It's worded in a way that has many people asking if they can travel to the US (to visit their favourite pals) not fully vaccinated, with only a negative test being required. This is not the case. Per White House and CDC guidelines, all non-US citizens must be fully vaccinated to travel to the US. The line in that BBC paragraph refers to unvaccinated American citizens and those who are except from vaccination (which is a very narrow including extreme medical reasons that stop you getting the vaccine etc) entering the country. Those people need to take a test 1 day before departure, for everyone else it's 3 days. Children under 18 do not have to be vaccinated to travel to the US but count as "vaccinated" as they're travelling with adults who are vaccinated, and take a test 3 days before just like vaccinated adults do.
