Disney Acknowledges Lack Of Demand For Walt Disney World

[WDW] The demand for the reopening of the Walt Disney World theme parks has not met the expectations of the Disney executives, as COVID cases are still high in the state.

Disney Acknowledges Lack Of Demand For Walt Disney World

Disney said on the company's latest earnings call that demand for Walt Disney World is "less than originally expected". This is largely due to the state of Florida being hard hit during the pandemic. The state is still posting up to 10,000 new COVID-19 cases a day.

CEO Bob Chapek said Disney are not filling the daily capacity limits that are in place. Keep in mind it's not public knowledge what exactly that capacity is. He also notes that 50% of guests are locals, and 50% are out of state.

As the company monitors demand, they're shifting more availability to annual passholders via the new park reservation system.
