The $3 Fuel Rod swap charge might have been scrapped, after lawsuits and social media backlash.
We shared last week that the Fuel Rods that were advertised as "free unlimited swaps" would soon begin to cost $3 a swap.
For those who don't know, you can buy a Fuel Rod mobile phone charger from a machine at the Disney Parks for $30 (or at other locations around the country) and then take that charger back after it's empty and swap it out for another one.
Stickers on the Fuel Rod machines starting to appear saying that from November 1, 2019, it would cost $3 to do a swap. Following this news, a class action lawsuit was filed against Disney for false advertising. The lawsuit was seeking $5million in damages due to thousands of guests paying $30 to have free unlimited swaps.
It now appears the stickers are being removed from the Fuel Rod machines, as the new $3 charge was due to begin today. We'll update when Disney confirms this to us.
