It was announced at the end of 2021 that Brits will have start paying a €7 fee to enter the EU (just like we have to pay $21 for our ESTA's to enter the US). For those Brits who want to visit Disneyland Paris, you must be aware of this new fee that'll be put in place for travellers visiting from outside the EU. Of course, since Brexit, the UK is no longer part of the EU.
This month, more information has been released about this new fee. It has been confirmed that this new "European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS)" will be in place from May 2023.
Travellers applying for an ETIAS will have to complete an online form with information regarding their identity, travel intention, and background security information, as well as upload a scanned copy of their passport and a digital biometric photo. Travellers will also have to pay a fee of €7 online. Yet, they will not have to go to an embassy, give fingerprints, or attend an interview. Once approved, an ETIAS authorization will be valid for an initial period of three years or up until the applicant’s passport expires, whichever comes first
The UK has also started working on a similar scheme, which for now is being called UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) so EU and other international travellers have to do the same visiting here.
