Shanghai And Hong Kong Disneyland To Close Due To Coronavirus
Both the Asia Disneyland parks have now been closed due to the Coronavirus originating in Wuhan, China.
Due to the ongoing attempt to stop the spread of the new coronavirus originating in Wuhan, China. Highly populated tourist areas, such as both the Asia Disneyland parks at Hong Kong and Shanghai have been closed for the foreseeable future.
It is also being reported (as of 4pm January 26th) that a confirmed report of the virus was found in Orange County, California from someone who visited Wuhan. The current risk of local transmission remains low. There is no evidence that person-to-person transmission has occurred in Orange County. Orange County is the county Disneyland is located.
Walt Disney World receives a lot of Chinese visitors every year, and even though there have been no confirmed cases there yet, if you're there at the moment, just keep up good personal hygiene by regularly washing your hands and even investing in some hand sanitisers.
Disney's official statement follows.
"As a precautionary measure in line with prevention efforts taking place across China, we are temporarily closing Shanghai Disneyland park out of consideration for the health and safety of our guests and Cast Members. We are in close contact with health officials and the local government about the situation and will announce a reopening date once they determine it is advisable. In the interim, we will be providing refunds to guests who have booked tickets to the park or rooms at our resort hotels."
