Sadly, it looks like this route might be coming to an end (which might end up being a boon for Virgin Atlantic). Towards the end of 2025 we reported that Aer Lingus might close its Manchester base because profit margins at the Manchester base lag significantly compared to their Irish base, as the company would see more profit moving their planes back to Dublin and running routes from there.
We started hearing from readers this week on our Mickey From The UK Facebook Group that their Aer Lingus Manchester to Orlando flights were being cancelled for this summer and they were being offered alternative flights or refunds. And now, Aer Lingus has posted a new notice on their website saying they're no longer selling transatlantic flights due to "a period of uncertainty ".
We are currently undergoing a period of uncertainty on transatlantic services at our Manchester base.
To minimise customer disruption in the event of a closure of the Manchester base, which operates transatlantic flights from Manchester to New York, Orlando and Barbados, Aer Lingus is no longer selling transatlantic flights to/from Manchester for travel from 31 March 2026.
There is no impact on Aer Lingus or Aer Lingus Regional flights between Manchester and Ireland.
We appreciate our customers' patience and cooperation during this time and we are contacting customers directly regarding their flights.
While Aer Lingus hasn't announced that the Manchester to Orlando route has been completely cancelled yet, it's looking that it might be. We'll update with more information when we know more.
