Mickey From The UK Editorial Policy
How we source, verify and correct our news and content.
Mickey From The UK is an independent Disney Parks news and travel resource for UK visitors, founded and run by Ash Hales. This page sets out the editorial standards we apply to all content published on this site - from breaking Disney Parks news to long-form guides and first-hand reviews.
Who We Are
Mickey From The UK was founded in 2017 to provide Disney Parks news, guides and reviews from a British perspective. All content is written and edited by Ash Hales, a British Disney Parks writer based in the South of England who has been visiting Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris for over three decades. There are no anonymous contributors. Every article published on this site has a named author. See our About page for more information.
How We Source Our News
Our primary sources are official announcements from Disney, travel operators, airlines and other relevant organisations. We link to original sources wherever possible so readers can verify information themselves. A portion of our coverage also draws on industry contacts and information shared ahead of official announcements - in those cases we will say the information has not yet been formally announced rather than presenting it as confirmed. Where we use information from a press release, we add context, a UK-specific angle, or additional verification before publishing.
How We Handle Unconfirmed Information
If something has not been confirmed by an official source, we make that clear in the article using language such as "unconfirmed", "according to reports" or "not yet officially announced". We do not present rumour or speculation as settled fact, even when a story is widely circulating. Once an official source confirms a story, we update the article, note that the information has been confirmed, and record when that happened. We do not delete or silently rewrite articles to remove earlier caveats - the update history is part of the record.
Fact-Checking Before Publishing
Before anything goes live, key facts - prices, dates, opening times, eligibility rules, booking terms - are checked against the primary source rather than taken from secondary reporting. Where a fact cannot be independently verified, we will say so in the article rather than state it as confirmed. If something changes after an article is published, our corrections process below covers how we handle that. We aim to be accurate rather than fast - if we cannot stand behind the accuracy of a piece, we will wait until we can.
Our Corrections Process
We correct errors promptly. If we get something wrong - a date, a price, a policy detail - we fix the article as soon as we become aware of the mistake. Significant corrections are noted within the article itself, including what was changed and when. Minor updates for clarity or to reflect new information that does not contradict the original article are made without a correction note, but the article's last-updated date reflects the change. If you spot a mistake, you can flag it at any time via our Contact Us page and we will look into it as a priority.
How We Review Things
Our reviews are based on our own visits, our own money and our own experience. We pay for hotels, meals, attractions and travel unless we say otherwise in the article itself. If something has been provided free of charge for review purposes, that will be disclosed clearly at the top of the piece. The absence of a disclosure means we paid for it ourselves.
We are honest about both the good and the not-so-good. If a restaurant, hotel or experience falls short, we say so and explain why - not to put you off Disney, but to point you towards a better option.
Opinions And Editorial Views
Some articles contain opinions, either in part or in full. Where we give an opinion or make a value judgement, we try to make that clear in the language we use rather than presenting it as objective fact. Opinions belong to the individual author. Where a news article contains editorial comment, that comment is clearly separated from the factual reporting.
Affiliate Links And Commercial Content
Mickey From The UK earns revenue through affiliate partnerships - when readers click certain links and make a booking, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to them. A full list of affiliate partnerships is available on our Disclaimer page. Affiliate relationships do not influence what we choose to cover, what we recommend, or how we write about a product or operator. Sponsored content, where it exists, is clearly labelled as such. The selection of affiliate partners is based on relevance to our readers - UK visitors planning Disney and Florida holidays - as well as our own experience with the product or service where applicable.
Our Independence
Mickey From The UK is an independent Disney Parks news and travel resource. We are not part of The Walt Disney Company, the Walt Disney Travel Company, or any other Disney entity. Editorial decisions - what we cover, how we cover it, and what conclusions we draw - are made independently and are not influenced by commercial relationships or outside interests.
