The summer of 2024 will be the smoothest travel that Britons who travel to Europe will enjoy for a while. This of course includes Brits who want some magic closer to home by visiting Disneyland Paris. Starting in Spring 2025, the EU will introduce ETIAS - their version of the USA's ESTA. An ETIAS will be required when entering the Schengen area - which includes 27 EU member states. The waiver will cost €7 per person and last for three years or until your passport expires.
Coupled with that is a new Entry-Exit System (EES) the EU will be impose on Brits travelling to Europe. This will mean they'll be fingerprint and biometric data taken for every British visitor to the EU's Schengen area, due to come into force by the end of 2024. This could add significant delays. Car passengers arriving at Dover have been told processing could take 15 hours before they get on a ferry. Air travellers will be processed on arrival in Europe. Those using ferries or trains are expected to complete the formalities at UK points of exit.
