Disney has announced the inevitable, the return of Fastpass, but in a new paid form. Fastpass (and Fastpass+) has been fully discontinued. In its place, is a new service through the upcoming Disney Genie service built into My Disney Experience. There are three parts to the Disney Genie service.

Part 1: Personalised itinerary (DISNEY GENIE SERVICE)

Disney Genie takes the guesswork out of "what's next" and helps save time in line by analysing thousands of different options with a personalised itinerary feature to seamlessly map out an entire day. Disney Genie service continually updates your plan, so you can go with the flow as the day changes. It works out an itinerary based on you telling it what you want to do, and gives suggestions throughout the day based on what is happening in the parks.

Part 2: DISNEY GENIE+ SERVICE (available for purchase)

Just because the Fastpass service is going away, the actual Fastpass queues will now be called the "Lightning Lanes". For the price of $15 per person, per day, you can enter the "Lightning Lane" over more than 40 Walt Disney World attractions. It works like the old paper Fastpass used to, so you would login to the app in the morning, pay $15, and then you'll be able to book the next available slot for an attraction. You go to that attraction at the chosen time through the Lightning Lane, and once you're off, you can book your next attraction.

Part 3: INDIVIDUAL ATTRACTION SELECTIONS (available for purchase)

There are some big attractions that will not be included in the above Disney Genie+ Service. Attractions like Rise Of The Resistance and Seven Dwarfs Mine train. The Lightning Lane on these attractions will be individually priced (not details on the exact pricing of this yet) and you can book up to two a day. This will work a bit like the Disneyland Paris Premier Access.

This will all be done on the day now, so no more booking your selections 60/30 days in advance.
