UPDATE: Virgin Atlantic have confirmed they're moving to MCO Terminal C on 30th June 2026 - click here to read the full update. The original article is below.

Virgin Atlantic announced earlier in 2026 that they would be moving from Terminal A/B to Terminal C at Orlando International Airport (MCO), later confirming the switch would be permanent. A date of 28th April 2026 was given, and for a while it looked like a done deal. Then it wasn't.

The Terminal C Move Has Been Delayed

Virgin Atlantic's website has been quietly updated, with the 28th April date removed and replaced with the following statement: "We are moving to Terminal C, and will confirm our move date once we have confirmation of the CBP approvals."

CBP is US Customs and Border Protection - the federal agency that has to approve terminal operations before airlines can use them for international arrivals. Until CBP gives the green light, Virgin Atlantic cannot commit to a date, which is why the original timeline has been pulled.

Virgin Atlantic are now telling customers that the move is expected to happen later in 2026, though no revised date has been confirmed at the time of writing.

What This Means for UK Travellers

If you are flying to Orlando with Virgin Atlantic this year, the short answer is that for now, nothing changes. Virgin Atlantic flights will continue to operate from Terminal A/B until the CBP approval comes through and a new move date is confirmed.

That said, once approval lands, things could move relatively quickly, so it is worth keeping an eye on any communications from Virgin Atlantic in the run-up to your trip. If you are travelling in the second half of 2026 in particular, it would be sensible to contact Virgin Atlantic directly in the weeks before departure to confirm which terminal you will be arriving into or departing from - especially if you have pre-arranged transfers or are picking up a hire car, as Terminal C is a separate facility to the existing A/B complex.

About MCO Terminal C

Terminal C is Orlando International Airport's newer international terminal, designed to handle the growing volume of passengers passing through the airport. It opened in 2022 and offers a more modern experience than the older Terminal A/B setup, with updated facilities and a dedicated international arrivals hall. For UK visitors arriving on long-haul flights, it is generally considered an improvement - once you are actually using it. You can learn more by reading our MCO Terminal C - The Guide For British Travellers article.

The delay itself is not unusual. CBP approvals involve a fair amount of federal bureaucracy, and airlines do not always have full control over the timeline. Virgin Atlantic will be keen to make the move as soon as they can, but until the approval is in hand, a firm date is not something they can reasonably give.

What to Do If You Have a Virgin Atlantic Orlando Booking

If you have already booked flights to Orlando with Virgin Atlantic, there is no immediate action required. Keep an eye on emails from Virgin Atlantic and check their website periodically as your travel date approaches. A few weeks before departure, it is worth dropping them a message to ask which terminal your flight will be operating from, just so there are no surprises on the day.

If you are still in the planning stages and considering Virgin Atlantic for a Florida holiday, the terminal situation is unlikely to affect your decision either way - it is more of a logistical detail than a reason to book or avoid. Check Virgin Atlantic's latest deals and availability here.
