The France "Tourist Tax" (sometimes called the "Tourism Tax") has gained attention due to the dramatic increase of the tax starting in 2024. Disneyland Paris are notifying guests with upcoming stays who booked in 2023 that the new 2024 Tourist Tax rates are now in effect. If you've booked a Disneyland Paris stay in recent years, you might not have even known Tourist Tax existed. That's because, like at Walt Disney World, Disney prices their resort fees and taxes into the price of the hotel when booking from the UK. This Tourist Tax is only paid by people from abroad visiting France.
Starting January 1st, 2024, the French government have drastically increased the tourist tax rates. This was announced in the France 2024 budget and the French government wants to capitalise on the Olympics being hosted in France in the summer of 2024. Don't expect the rates to go back down afterwards though, as the government said this rise will generate €423 million annually.
The Tourist Tax rates are charged for each adult 18+ guest. Children under 18 do not pay Tourist Tax. So for example, if three 21-year olds are sharing one hotel room for two nights and the Tourist Tax for that hotel is set at £4, the total Tourist Tax for that stay will be £24.
Tourist Tax Rates
The 5-star hotel (including Disneyland Hotel) tourist tax is €10.73 (up from €3.76)
The 4-star hotel (including Disney Newport Bay & Disney Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel) tourist tax is €8.13 (up from €2.88)
The 3-star hotel (including Disney Sequoia Lodge & Disney Hotel Cheyenne) tourist tax is €5.20 (up from €1.88)
The 2-star hotel (including Disney Hotel Santa Fe) tourist tax is €3.25 (up from €1.13)
