In the summer of 2020, the company who owns Cirque du Soleil filed for Creditor Protection due to the closure of theatres as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an interview with the LA Times, Chief Executive Daniel Lamarre talks about the comeback of the shows across the USA. He touched on the new version of Cirque du Soleil that was due to open in Disney Springs last year, and said that the opening date for this new show should be sometime this fall.
Cirque is also working on setting a new opening date for "Drawn to Life," its collaboration with Disney that was set to open in Orlando, Fla., last year. "It's a tribute to Disney animation, and we felt honored to have the opportunity to do a show with the IP [intellectual property] of Disney," Lamarre said. "We should be able to open sometime in the fall."
