At D23 Disney have announced that they are closing the Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios, and Ellen's Universe of Energy at Epcot.
The Great Movie Ride will be replaced with "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway". It'll be the same sort of concept of the Great Movie Ride where Mickey And Minnie take you through Mickey Short cartoons where anything can happen. It will feature what Disney are calling 2 1/2D, which is 3D without the glasses.
Universe of Energy is going to be replaced by a Guardians Of The Galaxy attraction which will open in 2021. As much as I liked Ellen and how much it needed to be updated, I'm not personally convinced that Guardians have a place in Epcot (although I love the movies). I look forward to seeing what they do with it.
Sadly though, The Great Movie Ride and Universe of Energy's last day of operation is August 13 2017. Which means we want get a chance to ride them for a last time.
