On the most recent Walt Disney Company earnings call, during the Q&A session, an analyst asked CEO Bob Iger about a potential fifth park at Walt Disney World. The rumours of a fifth park or "fifth gate" have been flowing for many years now, as a new park has not been added to Walt Disney World since 1998. For reference, EPCOT opened in 1982, and then 7 years later Disney's Hollywood Studios (Disney's MGM Studios at the time) opened in 1989, and then 9 years later Disney's Animal Kingdom opened in 1998. In 2024, it's been over 25 years since a new park was built. With Universal building a new theme park - EPIC UNIVERSE - opening in 2025, analysts will of course be interested in what Disney's plans are regarding a new theme park.

While we wouldn't expect CEO Bob Iger to announce a major new theme park on an earnings call, he avoided giving any firm answer either way and largely avoided the question. The hope and speculation of a new theme park continues to linger!
