Speaking at Goldman Sachs' media conference this week, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek said Disney+ growth will be choppy in the short-term and that the delta variant of COVID-19 has contributed to production delays. He then moved onto the theme parks and how they have navigated the pandemic, specifically regarding the park reservation system.

Chapek said the park reservation system is the "backbone" to the yield management of the parks. (Yield management is a variable pricing strategy, based on understanding, anticipating and influencing consumer behaviour in order to maximise revenue or profits from a fixed, time-limited resource). With the park reservation system, Disney can know exactly how many guests will be in what park each day to best allocate resources (among other things) and also maximum profits from guests.
