Disney discontinued complimentary MagicBands for hotel guests starting in 2021. So it was inevitable that the complimentary band you get for buying or renewing an annual pass was also on the chopping board. Many UK guests have annual passes, and starting August 16th, you'll no longer get a complimentary MagicBand with your renewal.

Annual passes themselves are currently discontinued themselves due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the announcement that annual passholders will no longer be getting complimentary bands starting in August, hints that they could be making a return soon.
