We posted earlier today that Disney were looking at add parking charges for their resorts. Disney have now updated their parking FAQ which confirms this.

This new self-parking fee will apply to all Disney owned Disney World resort hotels. The fee will apply to each vehicle that's parked overnight, per night. The parking fees will be added to your hotel bill when you check-out. All parking fees do include tax.

  • Deluxe Resorts $24/night

  • Moderate Resorts: $19/night

  • Value Resorts: $13/night

  • There is also an option for Valet parking at select deluxe resorts which costs $33/night.

What about my 2018 holiday I've already booked?

Fear not! These charges only apply to Disney resort reservations made after March 21st 2018. All bookings made before that date will not have to pay these new parking charges. You'll be able to park your car for free throughout your entire stay. It does not matter what your check-in date is, as long as your holiday was booked before March 21st 2018, you'll avoid these parking charges. All new reservations made after March 21st 2018 will have to pay these charges when they visit. So this is something to keep in mind for 2019 and beyond.

    Are there any exclusions?

DVC (Disney Vacation Club) members will not have to pay any resort parking fees when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa. DVC members also get free parking at all the other Disney World resorts only if they've used vacation points to book the rooms (I.E not paid cash). You'll also not have to pay parking fees if you're staying at the Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Each campsite providers parking for 1 car that's included.

    What about annual pass holders?

Annual passholders enjoy free parking at the parks (just like Disney World resort guests do), but if they decide to stay at a Disney hotel they will have to pay this parking charge to park their car at the resort overnight.

    What about disabilities?

As far as we can tell the parking charges do not apply to guests with disabilities. You are able to park in the appropriate closer spots, and must display a valid disability parking permit.

What if i'm not staying overnight?

You can still park your car at a Disney resort during the day for free. (If you're eating at a hotel restaurant for example.) The charge only applies if staying overnight.

What about the 2020 UK rumour?

There is a rumour that the parking charges cannot be applied to UK guests until 2020, although we can't confirm this at the moment. We've reached out to Disney and will update if we get a reply.
