Read on for the full story behind Antonio's gift day, what happens inside the ride, and what this new land means if you're planning a Disney World trip from the UK.
What Is Antonio's Fiesta De Encanto?
Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto takes its name from Antonio, the youngest member of the Madrigal family, and is set on the day he receives his own gift of talking to animals. Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation Studios and the writer and director of the original Encanto film, said the attraction lets guests explore new parts of the Madrigal family's Casita that were never shown on screen. The message running through the ride is that everyone belongs to the same familia, whether or not they have a magical gift of their own.
Disney has confirmed there's no height requirement, so this is one every member of the group can ride together, regardless of age.
What Happens Inside The Ride?
Guests board vehicles inside Casita itself, and Disney has designed these to look like ordinary pieces of furniture brought to life by the house's magic, reacting to the scenes around them. The ride carries guests up through the house and finishes in Antonio's bedroom, which Imagineers have transformed into a lush Colombian rainforest packed with more than 50 individual animal species.
Imagineer Joan Hartwig previously spoke about a research trip the team took to Colombia to study how colour, materials and terrain shape the region's culture, and Walt Disney Imagineering has worked with Disney's Animals, Science and Environment team to keep the animals accurate to the country the story is set in.
Which Encanto Voice Actors Are Returning?
Three of the film's original stars are lending their voices to the ride. Stephanie Beatriz returns as Mirabel, Jessica Darrow as Luisa, and Diane Guerrero as Isabella.
What Else Is Coming To Tropical Americas?
Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto is only one part of a much bigger expansion. Tropical Americas is replacing the old DinoLand U.S.A. area of Animal Kingdom, which closed for throughout 2025 and 2026, and the new land will celebrate the myths and wildlife of the rainforest across three separate attractions.
Disney has also confirmed the name of the new family-friendly carousel for the land: El Carrusel de los Animalitos. It's made up of 22 hand-carved animal figures pulled from various Disney and Pixar stories, and it's the park's own take on the classic Disney carousel format. The land's other headliner is Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, alongside a large hacienda-style quick-service restaurant expected to be one of the biggest at Walt Disney World, plus a Maya-inspired play area for younger children to dig for artefacts.
A few practical points worth keeping in mind while this land takes shape:
- DinoLand U.S.A. favourites like DINOSAUR and Primeval Whirl are gone for good.
- There's no confirmed opening date yet, so it's not worth building a whole trip around riding Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto until Disney says more.
- With no height requirement, this is shaping up to be a strong option for families with younger children once it opens.
When Does Antonio's Fiesta De Encanto Open?
Disney has confirmed a 2027 target for Tropical Americas but hasn't given an exact date or season for any of the three attractions, including Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto. We'll update this article as soon as Disney narrows that down.
What This Means For UK Disney World Holidays
A 2027 opening is far enough away that it shouldn't factor into a Disney World trip you're booking for this year or early next.
For UK visitors flying into Orlando International Airport, Virgin Atlantic remains a solid direct option from several UK airports, and pairing that with a Virgin Holidays package or booking your Virgin flights separately alongside a Disney hotel stay is worth comparing on price. If Virgin doesn't suit your dates or budget, TUI flies into Melbourne Airport and is worth checking as a back-up. Whichever route you go, our Walt Disney World offers guide for UK guests and Disney World tickets guide are both worth a read before you commit to dates.
