Liberty Square Riverboat And Tom Sawyer Island Now Permanently Closed
The construction of the Cars-themed land will begin soon following the closures.

Disney announced in the summer of 2024 that Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island will be closing, and now that day has arrived. Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have now both permanently closed at the Magic Kingdom. In its place will be a new Cars-themed land including 2 new attractions and construction of the project should begin very soon.

If you open the My Disney Experience app you will see that the Tom Sawyer island and Rivers Of America have now disappeared from the Magic Kingdom map.
