What Two Rides Are Coming to Piston Peak National Park?
Piston Peak National Park will open with two attractions. Cars Ridge Run Rally was announced first, back at D23 in 2024, and is the off-road racing centrepiece of the land. Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along is the new reveal from this year's event, giving the area a second ride to go with it. Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative for Walt Disney World, and Imagineer Jason Grandt shared the details on the Horizons stage at D23 2026 in Anaheim.
| Ride | Inspired By | Ride Type | Best Suited For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cars Ridge Run Rally | An off-road race across Piston Peak's mountains, geysers and rivers | Off-road racer with vehicles that physically react to the terrain | Guests who want a bumpier, more physical thrill ride |
| Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along | Miss Fritter, the demolition derby bus from Cars 3 | Spinning attraction hosted by a school-bus-sized animatronic | Families with younger children, or anyone after a gentler ride alongside the rally |
What Is Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along?
Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along is themed to the "Diva of Demolition" from Cars 3, appearing as a huge, school-bus-sized animatronic hosting what Disney describes as her wildest demolition derby yet. It's a spinning-style attraction, which puts it in the same broad family as rides like Mater's Junkyard Jamboree at Disney California Adventure.

What Is Cars Ridge Run Rally?
Cars Ridge Run Rally is the headline attraction of Piston Peak, and Jason Grandt described it at D23 as a search for the wildest racer in the "wheelderness". The route climbs Piston Peak itself to a snow-covered summit, drops down in a camelback descent, and finishes through a geyser field before circling the Old Faithful-style Old Tankfull geyser to the finish line, where Lightning McQueen and Mater commentate live as the Racing Sports Network.

How Does the New Ride Vehicle Technology Work?
Rather than simulating an off-road drive with screens or hydraulics faking the movement, Michael Hundgen said the Cars Ridge Run Rally vehicle is built to actually be an off-road car, with tyres and suspension that react to the real terrain underneath it.
How Does Piston Peak Fit Into Frontierland's Story?
Frontierland at Magic Kingdom has always worked as a kind of loose journey across American landscapes and eras, and Disney is positioning Piston Peak as the next chapter of that. The route through this section of the park already moves from the colonial architecture of Liberty Square, through the North Woods setting of Country Bear Jamboree, past New Orleans at Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and out to the Arizona bluffs of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Piston Peak slots in as a fictional national park inspired by the Rocky Mountains and the wider American Frontier, built using "Parkitecture", the architectural style developed by the US National Park Service to make buildings sit naturally within their landscape. Disney says trees will screen the off-road rally from other parts of Frontierland and Liberty Square, with mountains positioned along the waterway opposite Grizzly Hall and geysers stretching towards the trails near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

When Will Piston Peak National Park Open at Magic Kingdom?
Disney hasn't confirmed an opening date yet. However, construction is well under way which you can see from the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad queue.
What Does Piston Peak Mean for Your Walt Disney World Holiday?
There's nothing to book or plan around yet since Piston Peak is still under construction and there's no date attached to it. What it does confirm is that a big chunk of Frontierland will be boarded up and the land is going to look and feel different when it opens.
- Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America and the Liberty Square Riverboat are now closed.
- Expect ongoing construction walls and noise in this part of Frontierland until the project completes.
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Country Bear Jamboree are unaffected and still operating as normal.
