Savi's Workshop Adds White & Gold Hilts And New Effects: Quick Navigation

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is the Star Wars land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It's set in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu, and Savi's is the hidden workshop where you assemble your own lightsaber with help from cast members playing the Gatherers. Protection and Defense has been one of its four hilt themes since 2019, so this is a fresh series of parts for an existing path, and the new effects come with all four themes, which means a Sith-leaning Power and Control build gets them too.

What's New At Savi's Workshop In October 2026?

The updated Protection and Defense parts have white finishes with gold detailing and ancient Jedi symbols, styled on the High Republic, the era from the Star Wars books, comics and The Acolyte on Disney+ when the Jedi Order was seen as a symbol of peace across the galaxy. The bigger change is inside the hilt. Every lightsaber chassis and blade, whichever theme you pick, gets a thermal cutting effect and a spinning effect, along with deflection effects, upgraded audio quality and smoother blade activation.

There's also a colour-change trick. Put one of the special cracked kyber crystals into the new chassis and a quick flick of the wrist switches the blade colour, representing the pull between the light side and the dark side. Kyber crystals are the coloured gems that sit inside the hilt and set the blade colour, and the Gatherers offer blue, green, violet or red during the build.

For UK visitors, the upgrade hasn't changed the price, so a Disney World build is still $274.99 plus tax, or about £219 per lightsaber.

How To Book Savi's Workshop At Disney World

You can book Savi's on Disney's official Savi's Workshop page or in the My Disney Experience app. Disney also releases a limited number of same-day slots up to two hours ahead and takes walk-ins when there's space, but on a two-week Florida holiday, relying on a walk-in risks your Hollywood Studios day passing without a slot.

  1. Buy your park tickets first. You need valid admission for Disney's Hollywood Studios on the day, and depending on your ticket type a theme park reservation may also be needed. UK sellers such as FloridaTix sell multi-day Disney World tickets, and our Disney World tickets guide for UK visitors explains which ticket suits which trip.
  2. Work out when your booking window opens. Savi's slots can be booked up to 60 days before the date you want, so count back from your Hollywood Studios day and put a reminder in your phone.
  3. Decide who is building and who is watching. Each builder gets one lightsaber, one guest can go in with them, and at least one person in the pair must be 14 or older. The accompanying guest can't build their own, and Disney recommends the experience for ages 5 and up.
  4. Book online or in the app and pay in full. At Disney World the $274.99 plus tax is charged at the time of booking.
  5. Check in no earlier than 15 minutes before your slot. Bring your booking confirmation, photo ID and the credit card you booked with, and make sure everyone in your party is there, as late arrivals may not be accommodated.
  6. Choose Protection and Defense when the Gatherer meets you outside. You pick your hilt theme there and receive a cloisonné pin to mark your choice, and that's how you get the white and gold parts.

Keep in mind Disney World has a 24-hour cancellation policy for Savi's. Cancel within one day of your slot or miss it and you pay the full price, and custom lightsabers are non-refundable once built.

How Much Does Savi's Workshop Cost For UK Visitors?

Savi's Workshop costs $274.99 per lightsaber plus tax at Disney World. Disney's Hollywood Studios is in Orange County, where sales tax is 6.5%, so the total is $292.86, which works out at about £219 at an exchange rate of $1.34 to the pound. A family with two builders pays $585.72, or about £437, and Disney excludes Savi's from Annual Passholder and other discounts. Your bank may add a non-sterling transaction fee on top, depending on your card.

When Galaxy's Edge opened in 2019, we reported the Savi's price as $199.99 plus tax. It rose to $219.99 in April 2021, to $249.99 in October 2022 and to $274.99 in October 2025, which is $75 more than the 2019 price and an increase of 37.5%. The 5th October 2026 upgrade came without a price change, so you get the new chassis for the same money as the old one.
