After many years of back and forth, the UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves (via BBC) has announced the UK government now backs a third runway at Heathrow airport, saying it could create up to 100,000 jobs.
I can confirm today that this government supports a third runway at Heathrow and is inviting proposals to be be brought forward by the summer,
However, The Mayor of London (Labour's Sadiq Khan), has stressed his opposition to a third runway at Heathrow Airport and will challenge the expansion.
What a third runway at Heathrow will do in terms of prices and flights competition remains to be seen. We've already seen Virgin move to Heathrow for their Orlando flights (even though they've later said they want to move back to Gatwick), so it'll be curious to see what other shifts happen when the project is complete.
