UK Guests Are Excluded
The press release made it appear that booking in advance would be unavailable to UK guests putting them at a disadvantage of getting in 7 days before departure to book any of the high-demand rides as soon as they're available. This would be the first time a perk of staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotel would be based on the country you're from. A statement from Disney support said:
Due to reasons out of our control, there are certain Website/ App features unavailable to our international guests including this new Lighting Lane Multi-Pass/Single Pass update. We understand how disappointing that can be, so I do apologize for the inconvenience. You will have access to the Pre-Planning Features once you are in the USA.
Over the past couple of weeks, there has been mixed messaging from cast members telling some guests that they will be bookable and others telling guests they won't be. However, on July 3rd, the Walt Disney World UK website was updated (as it was blank since this announcement) to state (on many occasions) that UK guests will unable to book Lightning Lanes until they arrive in the US.
Purchase a Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass or both... and enjoy more magic in every moment of your day! These passes can be purchased after you arrive in the US.
The new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass can be purchased and used starting July 24, 2024 (only after you arrive in the US)
Purchase Lightning Lane passes upon arrival in the US and makes plans for a fun-filled park visit.
Possible Solutions
Now that the new Lightning Lane system is open, there are some unofficial solutions for UK guests. See your guide: UK Guide To Booking Lightning Lanes In Advance for all the details.
While not all guests will pay for Lightning Lanes and happy to wait in the standby lines, the ones that do may have to plan to use Lightning Lanes during the second week (if staying for 2 weeks) as you'll be in the US the first week to be able to book Lightning Lanes for your second week.
