The UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps today said an interview with the BBC that UK citizens can now start thinking about summer holidays again.

The UK government is likely to introduce a "traffic light" system to allow travel to the safest countries. Although not confirmed, USA looks to be on the "green" list due to their vaccination rates, and some European countries could be on "amber" or "red" due to high cases and low vaccination rates.

The traffic light system will grade foreign destinations as being:
- Green: Passengers will not need to quarantine on return, but must take a pre-departure test, as well as a PCR test on return to the UK
- Amber: Travellers will need to quarantine for 10 days, as well as taking a pre-departure test and two PCR tests
- Red: Passengers will have to pay for a 10-day stay in a managed quarantine hotel, as well as a pre-departure test and two PCR tests

No matter what colour a country is, mandatory COVID tests will be required and paid for by each travelling guest. The Transport Secretary has said the cost of the Covid tests required needed to be driven down. Foreign holidays would resume on May 17th at the earliest.

You can book Walt Disney World for 2021 (the $200 gift card and free nights offer is still live) and bookings for 2022 are now being taken direct through Disney as well. Each come with free "zen guarantee" room/ticket cancellation up to 7 days before check-in for peace of mind should any of the governments plans change.
