I know many enjoyed this little extra; some people even gave it to the kids for a little spending money boost. From what I have seen, the US rarely has any sort of offer that gives free gift cards. Although funnily enough, if you're reading this in April or May 2025, Disneyland Paris is offering a free gift card with select 2025 stays.
If you took advantage of an offer with a gift card in the past, you knew it was a bit of a pain in the behind. During the free Disney dining credit era, you would get an email with a digital card with your dining credit when you checked in. However, to get your Disney gift card, you had to go to World of Disney at Disney Springs to pick it up. That wasn't a particularly fun experience for guests or cast members as you had to go to the checkout, say you were picking one up, and you had to wait for a manager to come over at the end till with a little laptop to get it for you. You had to give over your booking details for them to check and then they manually put the value onto a gift card for you. Not only was it odd that you couldn't get it automatically like with the dining credit, you had to take a cast member away from doing something else to sort it for you.
The UK offer now opts for money off your package. For example, if you book your 2026 package early, you'll get an extra £300 off your package (£200 if you book your flights separately). While this is less fun, it saves on cast member time, admin time, your holiday time, and generally works out as a bigger saving overall.
