We recently travelled to Disneyland Paris. This was our first trip abroad since the pandemic, and thankfully the recent UK government changes (which are still in effect at the time of writing) meant only an LFT COVID-19 test is required upon return. This guide for day 2 return LFT testing is applicable for both France and the USA. This day 2 test is applicable for all travellers entering the UK aged 4 and over. Children under 5 are not required to take the day 2 test.

Before you travel, you must order your day 2 tests for all members of your travel party aged 4+ through a private COVID testing company. We used Project Screen for our tests because they were the testing provider that Disney used for their Magic At Sea cruises, so we are somewhat familiar with them. This article will walk you through the testing procedure and our experience using them.

We placed our order for our tests the few days before we were due to travel. They were £22 when we ordered them, but they've since been reduced to £19. You are given reference numbers when you purchase your tests. You must make a note of these reference numbers because when you fill out the passenger locator form on your return, you will be asked to provide them to prove you have arranged your tests. Project Screen sends these tests out to you on day 0 using DPD next day delivery, so they'll be with you ready to complete on day 2.

When you return, it's easier to first create a Project Screen account and then add profiles for you and everyone you want to be responsible for. Create a profile for each person under your account, and then you'll upload each test using only one account. You can easily switch between these profiles. You can then open your test kit which reveals the test equipment and instructions.

On day 2, you scan the QR code, login to Project Screen, and then click on the menu and locate "Activate Test Kit". You then enter the barcode that's on your test kit and then activate it.

You're then given instructions on how to carry out the test. You then start the 15-minute timer and wait for your LFT result to appear on your cassette. You then declare your result by choosing one of four options.

You're then told to take a photo of your test on the report card included in your test kit. It doesn't fit exactly even though it says to keep it in the dotted lines, as shown below. Fill in your name and the reference number you were given when you ordered the test and submitted with your passenger locator form.

Your photo is then uploaded, and you're prompted with a message that tells you your results will be verified within 12 hours. You can then go back to your Project Screen main account page and change profile to someone else in your party, and then complete their test. The results usually come through in an hour though. If your Project Screen dashboard says "still waiting for results" feel free to upload the photo again, it might give it a push to verify. When the results are verified, you'll see the below.

You can then download the PDF for your records. That's it! The reference number your submitted on your passenger locator form will be linked to this test and there's no more action taken by you (this is partially why there is a cost with these tests - behind-the-scenes paperwork). If it's negative, there's nothing more to do. If it's possible, you'll be prompted to take a free COVID-19 PCR test and follow all current UK government guidelines.
