Everything You Need To Know About Disney Axing Genie+ Pre-purchases & The &pound;6.99 Discount

Starting June 8th 2022 (but earlier in the UK), Genie+ will be changing. Disney has announced they're scrapping the option to pre-purchase Genie+ with your Magic Tickets. This also means that the UK exclusive £6.99/day Genie+ discount on 14-day tickets will also be scrapped. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming changes for your 2022 and 2023 tickets.

Ticket Only Bookings

If you already have pre-purchased Genie+ and fully paid your Magic Tickets, Genie+ will still be honoured for 2022 and 2023. You will get access to Genie+ on the days your Magic Tickets are valid for. You don't need to take any action.

If you've purchased tickets through a UK ticket vendor with Genie+ but NOT yet fully paid your Magic Tickets, Genie+ will still be honoured if you pay the balance of your tickets before June 8th, 2022. (This date depends on your vendor of choice, ask your vendor for final payment date). If you do not pay the balance by then, Genie+ will be removed from your tickets and they'll become standard Magic Tickets. Your remaining balance will reflect this change. This bullet point does not apply if you've paid your tickets in full direct with Disney.

If you have purchased Magic Tickets and you're thinking about adding Genie+, you must call Disney to add Genie+ before end of the 25th May 2022.

If you not yet purchased Magic Tickets and you're interested in adding Genie+ at the discounted £6.99/day rate, you must buy and pay for your tickets now, and then call Disney to add Genie+ before end of the 25th May 2022.

Keep in mind: If you have added Genie+ and paid off your Magic Tickets and you later need to amend them (for example, changing the start date) you will be reissued Magic Tickets without Genie+ (and you'll refunded the diference). You'll be unable to have Genie+ added to your tickets for any applicable changes after 25th May 2022.

Also keep in mind: As you might have read, this Genie+ change begins on June 8th 2022, however, to pre-purchase Genie+ on UK tickets the final date is May 25th 2022.

Hotel Package Bookings

All 2022 and 2023 hotel + ticket packages where Genie+ was purchased will be honoured, whether you've paid in full or just a deposit when booked direct through Disney. I would recommend checking if you've booked through a third-party travel agent to make sure, as sometimes they don't actually book your tickets right away.

Keep in mind: Whether you decide to pre-purchase Genie+ or not, you will still be able to purchase Genie+ using the My Disney Experience app on the day you want to use the service.

Ticket Purchase Options

The two recommended way to purchase Magic Tickets from the UK is either direct through Disney or through a legitimate UK ticket vendor. With some ticket vendors pulling their Genie+ tickets, the best way as of today is order your tickets direct through Disney here and then call to add Genie+ before the end of May 25th 2022. The ability to add Genie+ to tickets online has been removed, but Disney are allowing you to add on Genie+ at the discounted rate after your purchase by calling.
